CM Sites
OVERVIEW
This summer I led the project to create a tutorial site for the Wordpress websites that are managed by the Communications & Marketing Office of the University of Michigan. The project includes tutorials to edit the WP sites, to create WP site pages, and to manipulate photos among many more. Some departments in the College of Engineering like AERO and NERS are moving onto a different Content Management System and site editors are not yet familiar with the new one. Site editors are also on different levels of tech savviness and require different levels of handholding. The tutorial site can be found at cmsites.engin.umich.edu |

Process
I conducted interviews with site editors as well as with staff who usually take the editor's questions and whose time should be saved by the project. I created sitemap and wires while consulting my supervisor and coworkers. Delegating writing copy to very knowledgeable department members, we are now populating the site.
Probably the best part of my experience was when I presented my work to my team members and received their feedback. We worked together on my tentative sitemap, and I was able to explain my design decisions and incorporate suggestions.

Website
Home page wireframe. One thing I learned was that product requirements could emerge not just from the traditional discovery processes themselves, but also from ongoing changes and developments in the office. Because the Communications & Engineering Office is moving to formalize the services it offers, there is a new focus to cross-sell other services on the tutorial site that I am creating.
